Each Wing license grants one user the right to use Wing on as many machines as needed for their work. Wing is available in two tiers:

  • Wing Pro -- the full-featured Python IDE including AI agent development tools (Claude Code integration, Tasks, MCP servers, FIX actions, Code Actions, Write Tests, and the Review workflow).
  • Wing Classic -- the complete traditional Python IDE for hands-on development, with no AI agent features.

Anyone may purchase either tier for any purpose. See Pricing for current plans and prices.

Types of Licenses

  • Perpetual licenses are non-expiring licenses for one major release, such as Wing 12, and all earlier releases.
  • Annual licenses work with any released version of Wing for one year, and then expire and stop working entirely unless they are renewed.

Wing Pro licenses are transferable. Wing Classic licenses are not transferable.

Most Wing licenses are worldwide licenses that can be used in any country or region. Some discounted licenses are designated at the time of sale as geographically restricted to a specific country or region. These licenses are invalid and will not work in other countries or regions.

Support and Upgrades

All licenses include one year of email support and access to newly released versions of Wing.

For Perpetual licenses, access to Support+Upgrades may be extended, at a cost of US$ 99/year for Wing Pro licenses or US$ 44/year for Wing Classic licenses.

For Annual licenses, all renewals include Support+Upgrades.

Wing Classic licenses may be upgraded to Wing Pro by paying the price difference between the original and upgraded license.

License Activation

Wing licenses must be activated after installation on each machine. By default, each license is allowed up to ten activations per year. More activations may be obtained on request to support@wingware.com.

Our licensing system is designed to have minimal impact on legitimate users. As a fall-back in emergencies, Wing will run for 10 minutes at a time without any license, or a trial license period can be used until any license problem is resolved.

Access to Product Source Code

Wing Pro licenses include access to product source code, with a signed non-disclosure agreement. Source usage rights are summarized as follows:

  • You may make alterations and improvements to the source code as long as you don't try to defeat our license validation code or remove our copyright or trademark.
  • You may distribute any changes you make to the source code, in the form of patch files or in other forms that don't include substantial parts of our code. These can be open source or commercial at your discretion, and we have no special rights to them.

End User License Agreement

The first time you start Wing, you will be presented with the End User License Agreement (EULA) and the software will not run until you have agreed to its terms:

The same EULA applies to both Wing Pro and Wing Classic. Separate EULAs apply to Wing 101 and to legacy Wing Personal installations and are linked from those products' download pages.

Refunds

Upon request within 30 days, we will fully refund any purchase. New licenses will be revoked after refund. Upgrades or renewals will be rolled back to the licensed capabilities that existed before the refunded purchase was made.

All refunds are made using the original payment method (credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay, or check or bank transfer).
